GENEVA FOILING GRAND PRIX

Image
This past week-end was held in Geneva the first Swiss regatta of the season. The Société Nautique de Genève was hosting the Geneva Foiling Grand Prix. A race opened to many different classes of small foiling boats. We are happy that the Moth class was the biggest group with 9 boats on the start line. The weather delivered throughout the entire event. Strong north-easterly wind on the Saturday permitted 2 races to be completed before the wind got too strong and the wave too big for safe racing. Race resumed on the Sunday morning were the Bise was still prevailing. Albeit being a bit weaker for the 2 first races of the day, it eventually picked up and we were able to complete 3 more races. Bringing the total to 7 over the week-end. Strong wind conditions, sunny weather and a great atmosphere were the main components of a successful event!! Congratulation to Arnaud Psarofaghis for taking the win, followed by the Rigot brothers with Fabrice in second and Guillaume in third !!

The 2022 season is just around the corner

After a few difficult months for everybody, we are happy to announce the beginning of a new and exciting season for 2022. First off, the class committee is happy to welcome 2 new members: Mathieu Meyer will replace David Holenweg as the class’s secretary and Ueli Marti joins the team as a representative to help us coordinate the activities throughout Switzerland. We know it’s been rather quiet on our side in the last two years and we will try to make it up for it. We therefore have 2 planned regattas in Switzerland one beginning of May (7-8) and the second beginning of October (1-2), both will be held in Geneva. However, we would like to move around a bit more and are looking for people interested to help us organise races in their own club. Please do reach out to us if you would like to have an event organised in your hometown! On top of that, there will of course be the Foiling Week in Malcesine, the Moth Europeans in Quiberon and the Worlds in Argentina. Representative from the clas

Changes to the class committee

Philip Käsermann retires as president after almost 10 years and Fabrice Rigot (SNG) is taking over. The new vice-president of the class is Jesse Giacometti (SNG) New wind in the class so let's hope we will get back some action on Swiss lakes after this horrible COVID-season. Two regattas are planned but not yet confirmed: 19/20 June a foiling-WE on Bielersee and in 28/29 August again on Bielersee a regatta with the 29er to be confirmed by the local Club.

Change is going on

Dear Swiss-Moth Sailors and friends, a lot is happening in the background but not much visible so far. As SwissSailing announced partnership with ClubDesk, the full class administration is currently transfered and updated. As a big benefit, the membership datas will be synchronized with SailingAdmin and SwissSailing. So no more old data, hopefully. The calendar for 2020 is slowly shaping, but unfortunately not much happening in Switzerland. Will keep you advised, or please contact us if you have cool Club racing going on and happy to accommodate the few  Swiss Moth racing For 2019 you did not receive a membership bill, due to change in the class and a poor calendar, sorry for that. For those who raced international IMCA races (Euros/Worlds) we would be happy if you would pay your fees with the 2020 bill (as we had to pay the international fees for all members anyway) Thanks in advance and keep listening out for the news soon.
